LEctures

I have been teaching Frame by Frame: Understanding the Language of Film for over 13 years.

It is a series of multimedia lectures that begins with the history of film followed by detailed explanation of filmmaking tools. These include sound, production design, editing, directing, genre, producing, cinematography, acting and script writing. Specific film examples are used including “Billy Elliot” and “The Queen”.

Examples from dozens of other films (actual video) and film stills are used to illustrate individual topics. Comprehensive course notes are provided.

I can teach on campus or via computer.

I have a BA in Film and TV from the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) and have been teaching in schools and colleges since 2010. My series is interesting and often amusing. My students have always given me excellent feedback.
